Little Bit of Persuasion

Little Bit Of Persuasion is my most commercial or  ‘pop’ creation to date.   I enjoy writing and creating in varied and diverse styles. It’s funny how songs, grooves, hook lines rise to the surface when it comes to writing. The groove, simple bass line, chord progression and melody of this song hit me while I was taking the family dog for his morning walk. When the groove struck me, I pulled out my smartphone, fired up the MEMOS app, and sang the groove and bass line into the app and retained it in memory.  I am confident my neighbors think I’m a nut, or at least the ones that are awake early enough in the morning to witness me singing into my phone as I walk down the street.

For a month, I had forgotten about this song, but on a whim, I decided to check the MEMO phone app , and when I did….once again walking the dog, re-discovered this groove and bass line. I instantly heard the hook line in my head as I played it back, and then I sang the hook line LITTLE BIT OF PERSUASION back into the MEMOS app. That night, the studio process was initiated, and the song somewhat wrote itself. Now, my MEMOS app is consistently loaded with hook lines, grooves, and even spoken out concepts that would have been lost forever had I decided I could simply remember them somehow, someday, on my own. It is often comical to play back some of the ideas, and on occasion I visit the DELETE button when necessary!

The guest artists on the song include Jody Boyd (guitars / drums / engineering), John Small Jr. (bass), and Marna Bales background vocals.
